Graced Again...Again - [Erik]
This is from today's Graced Again.“He who is alone with his sin is utterly alone. It may be that Christians, notwithstanding corporate worship, common prayer, and all their…service, may still be left to their loneliness. The final break through to fellowship does not occur, because though they have fellowship with one another as believers and as devout people, they do not have fellowship as the undevout, as sinners. The pious fellowship permits no one to be a sinner. So everybody must conceal his sin from himself and the fellowship. We dare not be sinners. Many Christians are unthinkably horrified when a real sinner is suddenly discovered among them. So we remain alone with our sin, living lies and hypocrisy. The fact is we are sinners. But it is the grace of the Gospel, which is so hard for the pious to understand, that it confronts us with the truth and says: You are a sinner, a great desperate sinner; now come as the sinner that you are, to God who loves you…He does not want anything from you, a sacrifice, a work; He wants you alone. God has come to save the sinner.”

wow.
Hey Erik,
I'm a fan of the show and also get the graced again quotes every week. I too thought the comment from D.B. was spot on.
Good job on the show btw.

hit me right where I am....thanks Erik
He does ask the sinner for something, Erik. He asks for all of you?
Thanks for the [ping] John. Give Nashville a big kiss for me.
Jordy, help me understand what you are saying. Just a few more words. Did you mean to put that question mark there?
e.
God does require something from us. The only thing we can give him that has any value. Ourselves. (no question mark, sorry)
Jordy,
What do you mean by giving God ourselves? Just wondering where you're coming from...what you think it looks like to give him ourselves (and what you think he's wanting to do with us once he's got us).
Looking forward to hearing back from you if you've got the time.

I never thought about that. What is involved in giving all of yourself? I've always said that, because it sounded right to say, but I never quite disected what that means. Usually giving of one's self entails a giving of one's resources (time, money, etc...), but it feels as if to give yourself to God should be something deeper altogether. Perhaps it is being humble enought to trust Him with everything.
