Monkey Biz-nass - [Etcetera]

Welcome to 2007! A new year is dawning. What better way to start it off than by cracking open the internet and taking a big whiff of fresh Etcetera.

In addition to getting a look at Matt's monkey, we talked Dick Clark, embracing pain, the Ford/Brown/Hussein triad of death, the sneaky Wii, and new words added to the new Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Click here to get your monkey on.

By the way, also rans for the name of this show were: Show Me the Monkey, Year of the Monkey, Baboonery, Monkeymother, and a few others that just got a bit dirty. I thought I'd share.

Subscribe monkey! [clap clap]

As promised, here's a link to a commercial for said monkey so you can see it in action. I think the toy monkey is more believable than the actors. Agree or disagree?

Wow, what a superb show. Everybody was truly on target today, you covered many, many subjects of interest. I am so pleased that I was able to hear this show.

Erik's infatuation with the Monkey was so funny that it hurt.

Sharon, Matthew, and Erik, Thank you so much for being there.

Monkey lover,
Glenn

Be carefuly with this embracing the pain stuff. Mostly, be careful not to go numb - trust me.

Anyway, great show. Keep up the Baboonary!

Its ok to act like a vulcan as long as your heart burns like a klingon's.

Hey Chemical. I'd be interested in hearing more about what you mean by going numb from embracing pain.

I suspect, but I could be wrong given my minimal experience with embracing pain between scotches, I suspect if you embrace pain the way we were talking about it you wouldn't risk going numb. Cause if you went numb you would (by definition) stop embracing pain.

I'd be interested in your thoughts (or an evening with Matt's monkey...whichever comes first).

Another show name just occurred to me...

The Merry Monkey of Love

Thank you, and good night.

You won't go numb while embracing pain, but after. What happend to me was a period in my life when I was surrounded with pain from nearly everyone in my life and burned out on dealing with pain. I refused to become an angry person, an alcoholic, or depressed (though I did flirt with all of them). When I got to the point where I had an occasional break, I discovered I didn't really feal anything. Feeling nothing is worse than pain. I was ready to do anything to feel... while, anything. (insert inappropriate subjects here). Thanks to GOD, that is in the past, and most of the feeling has returned.

Being numb is not a crime, being excesively numb might be a sign of depression. I'm numb right now, but I'm at work so... ya know.

Reminds me of that Goo Goo Dolls line: "...and you bleed just to know you're alive..."
