One-Legged Stools - [Etcetera]

I was gonna tell you about how one-legged stools can't stand. Then I found the pic on the left.

Now, while I'm willing to admit that a one-legged stool may be able to stand under certain circumstances...it sure ain't pretty.

The point is this, Matt is in Italy and Sharon has strep throat. And while I may be able to do the show by myself, I'm afraid it would end up being the podcasting equivalent of me sitting next to a bush with a stick strapped to my arse.

All of that to say that there won't be a live Etcetera tonight. We'll see you this Tuesday (or next Tuesday - I'm not sure of the proper expression). Anyway, it streams live on Tuesdays from 9-10 ET at stevebrownetc.com. Check out that noise, or subscribe to the podcast and get it when it's hot now.

Isn't that picture really a 3-legged stool? 2 legs being the lady's legs, and the third being the stick coming out of her butt?

Regardless, I'm really missing the show this week. Looking forward to next Tuesday...

I hope the Mystic feels better... the Ninja has a safe trip back... and the Monk removes the stick from his butt (hehe)

Hey! Since you guys are featuring indie music now, you should list the featured artists on your blog, so we can all check out the music.

Be well!

Too bad it had to happen but at least it allowed us to have a fun "man date" last night. :)

300 kicks arse! (now if only America had the will to win a war that wasn't a movie...)

Yes, yes, Freudian jokes aside. I just installed Vista. You know the Apple computer commercial with the two guys personifying a Mac and a PC. Well, the one about Vista with the secret service agent is completely wrong. The PC dude should be in a straight-jacket with a ball gag in his mouth and a Hannibal mask on his face locked in a cage encased in 40 tons of cement. And then the Mac guy would be sitting there shaking his right-minded, yuppie head.

The Vista is evil! Unless you want to be over-protected and you want all of your software to run slower, stay away. If you are loyal to Windows (which I am—was), stay with XP. If you want pretty controls and an amazing interface, buy a friggin’ Mac.

I'm a software programmer and computer technician and I can't even launch the blasted task manager. It’s not that I don't know how; Vista won't let me. I'm not "elevated" enough. I called tech-support to ask how to get “elevated”, and the nice lady from India told me that the protect-you-from-yourself setting was active for everybody.

I would go back to XP in a heart beat except that when you install the Vista upgrade you forfeit your XP activation code. This is a dark day for us Windows lovers. Its official, Windows has gone the way of AOL. Now only teen-aged girls and members of AARP will get any use out of it.

*Sigh* It makes me feel like I have this stick coming right out of my arse.

Or do what I've done: Visual Styles! You can also get a program called WindowBlinds. Either will let you skin Windows to your liking. *nods* (I prefer visual styles because you don't need to install any extra software; all you have to do is hack a .dll file on your Windows machine. Google "visual styles", and you can find out how. :D)

sharon - get well soon! i hope you shake these bugs that seem to be following you this winter

erik - a one legged stool we could have handled, but not a one legged stool sample - that would have been icky

f'ing andrew - i participated in your man date in spirit, seeing 300 last night too in nj - what a cool flick - but why did the soldiers wear brooms on their heads?

Macs certainly do rock. I made the switch 3 years ago and dont miss my windows computer. All the creativity programs are awesome like Final Cut Pro, garageband and iphoto. A lot of the features of Vista have been in the Mac OS for many versions now. Here is a video that I found amusing that has the audio from the vista keynote and video of someone showing the features on the mac.

I am going to miss having a new show to listen to this week. It was one of the few weeks I was going to be able to listen live. Oh well... I hope you get feeling better soon Sharon.

So I was hanging out in the hotel lobby, missing my wife, my Mac which I don't need to go on about how incredibly awesomely awesome they are....you all know...and incidently, I haven't had any contributions to the "Buy Sharon A Mac" Foundation on my blog....which in and of itself hasn't had too many contributions...so there I am missing my wife (so hot and cool) and my mac (less hot and less cool, but still pretty awesome) and figured "Hey, at least I got my etcetera!" But then....no answer? Oh where have all the cowboys gone indeed! And of course, having no internet, I was left in Etcetera limbo! (Or Limbo Etc. if you will) What's up with that?!?! (of course, I now know why, but for the record, I'd like to see Erik try the show on his own...perhaps one or more of us could call in and be honourary legs. No that's not a miss-spell, Gregg from Canada you can back me up.

Missed you guys this week in case you didn't catch that!

Ciao!

The government is not the problem. It is nothing more than a mindlessly benevolant amalgamation of uncooperative sheep. The problem is us. We are the machine, we are the man!

Nothing will ever be resolved until we realize that the collective is to blame!

Erik - After listening to the show I must appologize for making Nobody's Listening sound in any way more awsome than Etcetera. So I have a few reasons why Etcetera is the BEST poscast ... ever (at least better that a podcast nobody listens to).

1. This is the only podcast with Erik's Laugh.
2. It is based on three talented people - the magic number. Nobody listens to podcast with only two hosts.
3. You cover every important topic I can think of: funny stories, theology, church, music, etc. (31 flavors and then some!)
4. You have input every week from one or more of your brilliant listeners like Steve from SCP, Jordan (WMSNBN), Zeke (Where have you been?), and Chemical Erik.
5. You're more than entertainment and education. You're helping people in a real, tangible way. You have helped feed people all over the world.

GOD bless the hell out of Etcetera!

(and I like the recap lymric idea if you can pull it off)
